One Stage, Three Schools, Infinite Talent
There was plenty to celebrate at this year’s Robert Juniper Award for the Arts annual fundraising Winter Concert, held in the auditorium of Eastern Hills Senior High School. Bringing together talented young musicians from Eastern Hills Senior High School, Helena College and Guildford Grammar, the concert showcased an impressively high standard of musicianship. From the opening notes, it was clear that these students had put tremendous dedication, energy and enthusiasm into their music.
The solo performances were particularly memorable, with many of the young artists demonstrating a maturity, confidence and musicality well beyond their years. The rock bands delighted the audience with spirited contemporary renditions, while the Big Bands and string ensembles brought plenty of sparkle and rhythm to the evening, and transported the audience through a wonderful selection of classical and much-loved repertoire.
What made the concert particularly special was the wonderful variety of musical styles, and seeing so many young people sharing their talents, supporting one another and clearly enjoying the experience of performing together. A concert such as this is a wonderful reminder of the important role music plays in the lives of young people, not only developing musical skills, but fostering confidence, discipline, creativity and a sense of connection with others.
Our sincere thanks go to the Music Directors of Eastern Hills Senior High School, Helena College, and Guildford Grammar, and to all the ensemble teachers and instrumental staff whose guidance, encouragement and countless hours of preparation made the evening possible. The Trustees of the Robert Juniper Award for the Arts are gratefully appreciative of the effort undertaken.
Most of all, congratulations and thank you to the music students themselves. Your spirited participation, hard work and sheer enjoyment of making music made the 2026 Winter Concert a truly memorable occasion.
